Tree of Life Minis (In progress)

Getting the tape on yesterday was a lot more work with these, the final versions, than it was studies. Why? Because I didn't have big dark pencil lines to align the tape. There are some very faint pencil lines in a few places. For example, on the circle I need the pencil guides, but on the other shapes the lines are either not there or very faint. And aligning tape to very very faint lines is slow, difficult and very tiring on the eyes. But this time there won't be any pencil marks showing through!

Like I said, I'm excited about starting these after finishing the studies...I think I may even paint on my Saturday.

Tree of Life Minis (Study)

Tree of Life Minis Study
8" x 8" each

Ready to start the final versions! I am really excited. I am going to change a few things...
1. Use a lighter blue in the triangle painting.
2. Apply the green thinner and the yellow thicker to the square painting.
3. Erase the pencil lines used to draw the shapes and make them as light as possible (most noticeable on the pentagon painting).
4. Use a clean canvas so there is not an underpainting showing through (most visible on the pentagon and square paintings).
5. Use a larger canvas. I am painting them all on one piece and cutting them apart after, but the studies are a little too close together.

Houston Temple

Tree of Life Minis (Study in progress)

These mini Tree of Life paintings are only 8 inches square, which seems so small after working with 2.5 feet square. However, I am not entirely sure that I like how the colors turned out. I know the picture is pretty bad. I'll take the painting outside and try to get some without the glare. I think I may end up redoing some of the squares. I think I will hold off for a little though and keep going with these. I want to see how the trees look on top of the different shapes before I repaint them.
From left to right, this was today's progression.
